A summer scientific expedition found traces of snow leopards, but data cards retrieved from remote camera traps have now proved their presence.

Alexey Kuzhlekov, of the Saylyugem Nature Reserve, told The Siberian Times: Now we know it for sure after seeing a mother leopard with two cubs. They are about half a year old.

According to the latest count, Russia has from 70 to 90 snow leopards in the wild, with information about 50 of them confirmed by camera traps.
